King Multipurpose Cooperative History
King Multipurpose Cooperative better known as King MPC is a home grown cooperative in Davao City. Duly registered with the Cooperative Development Authority that started as an informal association from the Bureau of Agriculture Extension – Region XI back in 1967. Registered as Ministry of Agriculture Coop, Inc. at Bureau of Coop Development in April 15, 1981and initiated by 600 members with Mr. Juan Y. “Tatang” Solomon as the Founding Father and an initial capital of P179, 000.00.
Anchored on its mission to uplift the lives of its members, King MPC continues to provide wide array of quality services, loan products and investment opportunities.
As the society’s partner for change and as an agent of community development and livelihood building, King MPC has been recognized by different award giving bodies in the exercise of the 7 cooperative principles.
King MPC has been a 3-year recipient of the “Most Outstanding Cooperative” in Davao City- Large Category (from 2014 to 2016) putting it in the Hall of Fame. In 2019, King MPC was also conferred the “2019 Villar Sipag Awards Poverty Reduction Challenge” as the Most Outstanding Community Enterprise by the Villar Sipag Foundation.
A year later, King MPC was recognized by the Cooperative Development Authority Region XI as a recipient of the CDA Gawad Parangal 2020 for its highly esteemed contribution to the community during the COVID – 19 pandemic in the exercise of the 7th universally accepted cooperative principle “Concern for community.
Following its mantra of ONE TEAM. ONE KING. ONE DREAM. King MPC is strategically rearing towards member’s welfare, operational excellence, products and services superiority and network building by partnering with various Organizational Membership, Affiliations & Accreditations.
Today, King Multipurpose Cooperative continues to grow, through its branches and satellite offices all over Mindanao with Davao City as its Head Office, serving a total membership of over 40,000 and a total asset of more than P1 Billion.
